This course is designed for those Licensed Practitioners who work closely with parents. (Previously known as Talking with Parents and Carers)

The course will focus on the importance of your relationship with parents in order to help you:

  • 'stand in the shoes' of the parents/carers you work with

  • build relationships with parents/carers based on trust and mutual respect

  • focus on the positives rather than dwelling on the negatives

  • establish non-judgemental relationships with parents/carers in order to optimise the productivity of partnership working

  • work more confidently with the parents/carers of new children in school

  • approach parents/carers about doing a Thrive assessment and the associated permission forms

  • have a greater appreciation of how Thrive-Online can be of help to you.

The course will also give you a chance to revise your understanding of the neuroscience, attachment theory and the importance of play and creativity in the Thrive Approach and will touch on such topics as:

  • attuning and validating

  • how we feel when we fail

  • models of parenting

  • exploring scripts for working with parents/carers.

Open to: Licensed Practitioners or above

Notes: Delegates may need to provide their own laptop/ Tablet.

If you have considerable experience or a designated role for working with families you may prefer to consider the 3 day Family Thrive for Practitioners and Trainers which, upon successful completion, would approve you to deliver the Family Thrive sessions.
