Course overview

As adults we are quick to notice issues and find the right solutions to choose to resolve them. We must equip the children and young people in our settings to be able to do this independently however often we step in and tell children what it is they need to do next and why. Supporting children and young people to develop their own robust cognitive regulation skills as part of their stress regulation system will ensure that with they are equipped to find solutions to problems when things go wrong. This will lead them to be able to make more appropriate choices in behaviour and to be able to calm and soothe themselves because they can think through what they need to do next to stay regulated.

This 2-hour webinar will deepen licensed practitioners’ understanding of why we use Lending Your Thinking Brain and Captain Thinking. As a Thrive Licensed Practitioner you are the point of expertise in school and can often be called upon to offer advice and guidance, this webinar will deepen your own skills and the capacity to support wider staff teams to use Lending Your Thinking Brain and Captain Thinking. You will observe film footage demonstrating the techniques and discover some helpful ways to respond to the children and young people.

FAQs

Where can I find upcoming Thrive training in my area?

All Thrive training is now delivered by our experienced Thrive trainers using a mix of live webinars, e-learning sessions and e-mentoring. On the Thrive training pages you can find dates for courses running throughout the year. We also have a team of regional Relationship Managers who are happy to help – meet the regional team here.

Can I complete Thrive training as an individual or do I need to be part of an organisation?

To become a Thrive Licensed Practitioner you will need to be working with children on a regular basis and be able to carry out Thrive-Online assessments to pass the course. We recommend volunteering at a school if this is not possible in your current role.

To talk through our training courses and to discuss funding options, contact our Relationship Development team on 01392 797555 or enquiries@thriveapproach.com
