Supporting children and young people to understand why they might behave as a reaction to a situation is the first step in the them being able to change their reactions and find more socially acceptable ways of behaving. As part of the Thrive Licensed Practitioner course you will have been introduced to the concept of understanding that behaviour is the communication of unmet need. We compassionately use the strategy of Shining The Light to help children and young people deepen their awareness of their own hooks and triggers leading to them develop different strategies when they find themselves in situations they find difficult to manage.
This two-hour webinar will deepen licensed practitioners’ understanding and skills in using Shining the Light, together with their capacity to support the wider staff teams to work with children and young people to use this hugely effective strategy. You will observe film footage demonstrating the techniques and discover some helpful ways to respond to the children and young people. As a Thrive Licensed Practitioner you are the point of expertise in school and can often be called upon to offer advice and guidance.
This CPD webinar is ideal for all Thrive Licensed Practitioners wishing to develop their Shining the Light skills to further support the children and young people they work with.
This two-hour webinar is worth 5 CPD points.

All Thrive training is now delivered by our experienced Thrive trainers using a mix of live webinars, e-learning sessions and e-mentoring. On the Thrive training pages you can find dates for courses running throughout the year. We also have a team of regional Relationship Managers who are happy to help – meet the regional team here.
To become a Thrive Licensed Practitioner you will need to be working with children on a regular basis and be able to carry out Thrive-Online assessments to pass the course. We recommend volunteering at a school if this is not possible in your current role.
