World Book Day 2022: Showcasing your creations

9th March 2022| Blogs

To celebrate 25 years of World Book Day, Thrive ran a creative competition for children and young people, asking them to recreate their favourite book or fictional character.

The competition was a great success, and we would like to say thank you to everyone who got involved – your fantastic entries are making judging very tough!

While we are choosing the three lucky winners of the £75 Waterstones vouchers, which will be announced on our social media pages on Friday 11 March, please enjoy a selection of photos that showcase some of the amazing entries we received in the competition:

Firstly, a special shout out to an entry that really made us smile – New Heights School’s dog, Beau, as Captain Hook!

Alongside the entry from New Heights School, we had many other amazing photos that we would like to share to show off the incredible talent and creativity that went into so many outfits, drawings, models, and videos.

Unfortunately, there are too many entries to feature everyone’s, so here are ten selected at random to show off the talent of World Book Day 2022.

Ratburger – Samuel

Miss Trunchbull - Chloe age 6

Alice in Wonderland and the Cheshire Cat, featuring hand-drawn shoes – Lillie age 10

The Plane from Grandpa’s Great Escape – George age 11

Amelia Earhart – Elizabeth age 5

Paddington Bear Picnic – Theo and Rhys

Peter Rabbit

Under the Stars Drawing – Carola age 10

Violet Beauregarde – Olivia

Captain Tom Moore – Alex age 5

A big thank you to everyone who entered the competition. It looked like you had a lot of fun when creating your entries, and we would like to wish everyone luck for Friday when the winners are announced.
