Introducing guest speaker: Annie Sheret

Annie has worked in the primary sector for the last 14 years across London and Hampshire, taking on various senior leadership roles, from SENDCo to Deputy Head, in both mainstream and specialist sectors supporting children with a wide range of needs.

She completed her Thrive Licensed Practitioner training in 2013 and instantly fell in love with the impact it made on vulnerable children and their families. At the time, the school she was working in needed lots of reparative work for highly complex children, however, Annie could quickly see how Thrive would support every child and could easily be weaved into the curriculum.

She soon became passionate about ensuring Thrive’s right-time approach was embedded across the school, weaving it into curriculum plans, training staff on the importance of the right-time developmental strands and championing PACE, the VRFs and WIN.

Annie started her Train the Trainer course in 2015 and has loved training delegates across the country since then. In her spare time she teaches yoga, is a children's counsellor and is run wonderfully-ragged by her one-year-old.

What you'll learn

The Thrive Approach is most effective when it is deeply-embedded across the school day, in all areas of the curriculum. This allows settings to have a whole school, right-time approach to mental health that recognises the interconnectedness of mental wellbeing, attainment and the overall school environment. This results in a proactive and inclusive school culture that works to prevent mental health issues and allows for early intervention when problems occur. It also means that staff time and energy is used as effectively as possible, helping to boost everyone’s wellbeing.

In this two-hour session, delegates will be given simple strategies to embed Thrive into the primary curriculum in England with an emphasis on suggestions that are quick and easy to implement.
