MyThrive Scan

Pupil Wellbeing Scan

The Pupil Wellbeing Scan gives you a clear picture of how pupils are doing, so you can spot where support is needed and track progress over time.

What it Measures

The scan is grounded in Thrive’s conceptual model of wellbeing, which defines child and young person wellbeing across three interconnected areas:

Social Wellbeing

Pupils’ sense of belonging,
connection and positive
relationships.

Emotional Development

Pupils’ ability to manage feelings, build resilience and feel safe

Senior Leaders

Pupils’ curiosity, motivation, and active engagement in learning and social activities.

The scan generates a Pupil Wellbeing Index - giving an instant sense check of wellbeing at class and pupil level. Scores also combine into year-group and whole-school results, giving leaders a clear view of trends across the school.

Putting it all together

The scan is grounded in Thrive’s conceptual model of wellbeing,
which defines child and young person wellbeing in 4 ways:

  • Spot emerging risks – identify pupils, classes, or year groups with lower wellbeing scores
  • Track trends over time – see if initiatives or interventions are having an impact
  • Make confident decisions – use data to focus time, staff, and resources where they’re needed most
  • Evidence your work – demonstrate impact to governors, trustees, or inspection teams

Note: The Pupil Wellbeing Scan highlights trends and potential risks but does not provide individualised strategies or interventions. To plan targeted SEMH support for specific pupils, you can upgrade to the full Thrive-Online® subscription, which includes 1:1 and small group assessments with tailored action plans.
