I find the neuroscience side of Thrive fascinating and enjoy helping young people understand how their brains work. A young person I work with had very low confidence and self-esteem, now they’re unrecognisable – confident, social and excited about the future."

Steven Portues. Pastoral Intervention Coordinator, Acklam Grange School.

What you'll learn

The training will:
  • Provide your staff with an opportunity to review the key theories underpinning the Thrive Approach to enable them to support the social and emotional development of all young people in your setting
  • Support your setting’s SLT and Thrive licensed practitioners with the process of embedding a whole-school approach to Thrive
  • Support all staff to develop a greater understanding of young peoples needs, at both the right-time in their development and where they may have gaps in their earlier development
  • Equip all staff with some basic tools and strategies for supporting any behaviours arising from young peoples unmet needs
  • Support all staff to share knowledge and skills across the organisation, promoting staff wellbeing, co-operation, and information-sharing
  • Enable you to tailor the learning to reflect the specific needs of your staff

Course structure

This half-day top-up training session consists of two set topics: the introduction, comprising the course aims and learning outcomes, and Thrive Essentials, covering underpinning theory.

This is followed by a selection of six short workshops (A–G below) from which you can choose two that you consider the most relevant and useful to your setting. After the workshop, there is a final set session to close the session.

You can choose from the following workshops:

A. Creating a culture of belonging
B. Bridging the gap
C. Understanding the relate–rupture–repair cycle
D. Supporting young people to manage conflict
E. Supporting young people to develop emotional intelligence
F. Supporting young people in moments of overwhelm
G. Using Thrive-Online to support right-time learning in the classroom

Please note: this course can only be booked through the office (Tel: 01392 797555 Option 1).
