become a thrive special school
Reserve your place by 13th July for the Autumn 1 cohort.
The Thrive Whole School SEMH Provision for Special Schools helps specialist settings build a consistent approach to SEMH, behaviour and wellbeing.
By training two Thrive Licensed Practitioners and using Thrive-Online, your setting can assess social and emotional development, plan support around each pupil’s needs and track progress over time.
Thrive helps staff look beyond behaviour and respond in ways that fit each pupil’s development, communication, relationships and experiences.
Two colleagues train as Thrive Licensed Practitioners, building the skills to assess social and emotional development and lead targeted support in your setting.
You can choose two Childhood Licensed Practitioner places, two Adolescence Licensed Practitioner places, or one of each, based on pupils’ needs and developmental age.

Thrive-Online helps staff assess need, plan support and track progress across your setting.
Staff can also access Thrive e-learning modules through Thrive-Online, helping build a shared understanding of the approach across the school.

Your setting receives implementation support to help introduce Thrive in a way that fits your context.
This support helps leaders consider how Thrive sits alongside existing SEMH provision, behaviour approaches, SEND systems, EHCP processes, pastoral support and wider school priorities.
It also helps your setting think through how two practitioners can lead the work, support colleagues and build consistency across teams.

Special schools, specialist settings and APs often begin Thrive when they want a clearer way to understand and respond to pupils’ social and emotional needs.
It’s particularly relevant where:
We have seen first-hand the impact that Thrive has had on children, their families and the staff at our school.”

In special schools, Thrive Licensed Practitioners are usually colleagues who work closely with pupils who need SEMH support.
This often includes:
These practitioners lead the targeted Thrive support and work directly with pupils.
Ongoing requirement: From the academic year after qualification, Thrive Licensed Practitioners need to complete annual Thrive CPD to maintain their practitioner status.
Some schools also choose to train a senior leader through the Leading Emotionally Healthy Schools course.
Senior leaders help make sure Thrive becomes part of everyday school practice.
They also play an important role in helping staff understand the approach and embedding Thrive across behaviour, SEND, pastoral, wellbeing and wider school systems.
This training is optional and can be completed at a later stage.
If you're ready to move ahead with becoming a Thrive Special School, you can book online above.
Wise Investment Guarantee: If the trained practitioner leaves your setting within 12 months of completing their training, we will train another member of staff at no additional cost.
If you'd prefer a conversation to talk it through, book a Discovery call with our team.
Special schools and specialist settings can choose the Licensed Practitioner training that best reflects how they support pupils.
You can choose two Childhood Licensed Practitioner places, two Adolescence Licensed Practitioner places, or one of each.
The right choice depends on whether your setting works mainly at an age-appropriate level or a developmentally appropriate level. Some settings supporting older pupils may still choose Childhood Licensed Practitioner training if pupils are being supported through earlier developmental needs.
If your setting supports a broad age range, or works with pupils at different developmental stages, you may choose one Childhood and one Adolescence place.
Yes. The Thrive Whole School SEMH Provision for Special Schools gives your setting a clear route to becoming a Thrive School.
To call your setting a Thrive School, you need trained Thrive Licensed Practitioners and an active annual Thrive-Online subscription. This package gives you both, along with implementation support to help you get started.
Once your school has joined Thrive, you can also book whole-school induction or whole-staff training to help embed the approach across everyday practice.
Learn more about becoming a Thrive Special School.
Your setting receives Thrive Licensed Practitioner training for two colleagues, Thrive-Online access for all pupils on roll and implementation support.
Your Thrive Licensed Practitioners learn how to understand social and emotional development, build strong relationships and deliver targeted support matched to pupils’ needs.
Thrive-Online helps your setting assess need, create action plans, track progress and evidence impact.
In our experience, specialist settings usually have at least two Thrive Licensed Practitioners, and often more. This helps colleagues share assessment, action planning and intervention work, especially when supporting pupils with high levels of need.
Training two practitioners from the start helps build capacity and makes it easier to embed Thrive across everyday practice.
If you’d like to train more than two practitioners, you can add additional places when you purchase, or train more colleagues at a later stage.
The Thrive Whole School SEMH Provision for Special Schools includes a one-off Thrive Licensed Practitioner training fee for two colleagues and an annual Thrive-Online subscription.
The one-off training fee for two practitioners is £3,382 + VAT. Thrive-Online starts from £450 + VAT per year for settings with up to 25 pupils.
Your annual subscription is based on your setting’s number on roll.
