Frequently asked questions

Who are these early years resources for?
These resources are designed for anyone working in an early years setting - including nursery staff, Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) teachers, childminders and early years practitioners. The goodie bag functions as a mini toolkit for early years practitioners, covering everything from behaviour and belonging to emotional literacy and SEND.
How can these resources help with challenging behaviour in the early years?

We've included practical strategies and guides for responding to challenging behaviours including children who hit or hurt others and children who bite. This focuses on understanding the 'why' behind behaviours and responding in ways that support emotional safety and regulation.

What is personal, social and emotional development (PSED) and why does it matter so much in the early years?

Personal, social and emotional development is the part of the early development that helps children understand themselves, manage emotions, build positive relationships and feel confident in the world around them. PSED is a prime area of learning with Thrive in the early years. When children develop strong emotional and social foundations early on, they're more ready to explore, learn and thrive.
