Staff Training full-day Top-up: Adolescence
Overview
This training is for Thrive Schools and settings working with secondary-aged young people.
Led by a Thrive Licensed Trainer, the session gives staff time to refresh their understanding of the Thrive Approach and apply it to everyday practice.
The day includes core Thrive content, followed by four workshops chosen by your setting. Compared with the half-day top-up, this full-day option gives staff more time to explore the topics most relevant to your school and young people.

What you'll learn
The training covers:
- A review of the key theories behind the Thrive Approach.
- How staff can support young people's social and emotional development.
- Young people’s right-time developmental needs.
- Earlier unmet needs and how these may show in behaviour.
- Basic tools and strategies for supporting behaviour linked to unmet needs.
- How to strengthen a whole-school approach to Thrive.
How the training works
This full-day top-up begins with two set topics: an introduction covering the course aims and learning outcomes, followed by Thrive Essentials, which revisits the underpinning theory.
Your setting then chooses four workshops from the options below, so the day can focus on the topics most relevant to your staff and young people.
A. Creating a culture of belonging
B. Bridging the gap
C. Understanding the relate–rupture–repair cycle
D. Supporting young people to manage conflict
E. Supporting young people to develop emotional intelligence
F. Supporting young people in moments of overwhelm
G. Using Thrive-Online to support right-time learning in the classroom
After the fourth workshop, there is a final set session to close the day.

For settings that would like a face-to-face training session, there is a flat rate charge of £490 per trainer per day, or part day, plus VAT.
Prices apply to courses starting on or after 1 September 2025.
