Early intervention and escalation reduction at scale

Thrive works with organisations delivering programmes and national initiatives to design approaches that fit your brief, funding requirements, and how delivery actually works.

We help build the capability of mentors, practitioners and frontline staff so they can respond earlier and reduce escalation into exclusion, persistent absence or specialist and statutory services.

Why organisations partner with Thrive

A flexible approach for earlier, more consistent support.

01

Tailored solutions

Designed around your programme and funding

We shape delivery around your outcomes, target groups and constraints, and support you to build an approach that can be embedded and developed over time.

02

Respond earlier

Support earlier intervention within your delivery model

Frontline staff learn how to spot emerging and complex need and respond earlier, so fewer children reach crisis point or require escalation beyond your programme.

03

cost savings

Reduce pressure on specialist and statutory systems

Strengthening universal and targeted support helps more needs get met earlier, reducing reliance on high-cost and late-stage intervention.

04

scale effectively

Deliver at scale with consistency

A clear structure keeps delivery consistent across roles, settings and partners, so you can scale without losing quality.

The evidence behind it

The Thrive Approach has been independently evaluated by ImpactEd through a large-scale analysis of over 2,600 schools and a two-year mixed-methods study.

Schools using Thrive show:

52% reduction in exclusions
Higher pupil wellbeing
Lower absence rates
This provides a strong evidence base for programme design, evaluation and future investment decisions.

Attendance Mentoring Pilot Expansion

Supporting a National Approach to Persistent Absence

Thrive is supporting the Attendance Mentoring Pilot Expansion, a national Department for Education initiative led by Etio to test how mentoring can improve school attendance.

Working with secondary schools across England, the programme supports pupils who are persistently or severely absent. Thrive provides specialist training for attendance mentors, helping them understand the social and emotional barriers that can sit behind absence.

The programme focuses on:

  • Pupils missing significant time from school
  • Understanding what may be driving absence
  • Building trusted mentor relationships
  • Helping young people re-engage with learning
  • Evaluating the impact of mentoring on attendance

Ways to implement

There are different ways to start working with Thrive, depending on your priorities and funding. Many partners begin with a focused programme or strategic initiative, then extend the approach more widely over time.

Focus on a specific priority or group, with delivery shaped around clear objectives and funding requirements, with the option to expand more widely if needed.

Examples include:

  • Attendance and persistent absence
  • Behaviour and exclusion reduction
  • Anti-bullying initiatives
  • Support for vulnerable or at-risk groups
  • Each pilot has defined cohorts, clear success measures, and delivery aligned to funding requirements.

How partnership delivery works

Every partnership starts with your goal in mind, not a pre-set model. We work with you to understand your objectives, cohort and constraints, then shape delivery to fit.

Programme design aligned to your brief

We map Thrive to your intended outcomes, whether that’s reducing absence, addressing bullying, supporting at-risk groups or preventing escalation into youth justice.

Building frontline capability

Training equips practitioners, mentors and delivery teams with practical ways to respond within the context of your programme.

Shared framework and system

Thrive-Online supports consistent assessment, planning and progress tracking across delivery. Consistent data and reporting help you evidence impact and make informed decisions about continuation or scale.

Not sure which route is right for you?

If you're developing a programme, responding to a tender, or planning longer-term delivery across a priority area, we can help shape an approach that fits your brief and works in practice over time.
