They learn how to notice when a child or young person may need help, understand what might be sitting behind behaviour, withdrawal, anxiety, low attendance or low engagement, and put support in place.
That support might be part of everyday school life, or it might be more focused one-to-one or small group work.
In practice, it means your setting has people who can help make Thrive part of daily practice, not just something staff know about.

Schools and settings are supporting children and young people with a wide range of social and emotional needs, often while staff are already stretched.
Licensed Practitioner training gives your team a shared way to understand need earlier, plan support and help more children feel safe, included and ready to learn.
For settings new to Thrive, this training is accessed through our Thrive School packages or selected apprenticeships, so staff can learn alongside the tools and support that help Thrive become part of everyday practice.

For special schools, specialist settings and alternative provision, the right Licensed Practitioner training depends on how your setting supports children and young people.
Some settings work mainly in line with chronological age. Others work more closely with children and young people’s developmental needs, which may not match their chronological age.
For example, a specialist setting working with adolescents may choose Adolescence Licensed Practitioner training if they are supporting young people in an age-appropriate way. If they are working more developmentally, Childhood Licensed Practitioner training may offer a better fit.
